YOU PROMISED ME FLYING CARS. WE ARE IN 2016 AND ALL WE GOT IS TWERKING II

(teaser)
Cartoons such as “The Jetsons” depicted a retrofuturist world where humans inhabit outer space, own robot-servants and transport themselves in flying cars. In 1998, George Costanza, a character from the tv series “Seinfeld” complained about the lack of flying cars: “When are we gonna get flying cars? Yeah, they have been promising that. (...) When we were kids it seemed like it was around the corner.”

YOU PROMISED ME FLYING CARS. WE ARE IN 2016 AND ALL WE GOT IS TWERKING is a series of video-performances, an ongoing project that explores the body in a state of delusion and anticipation. An autodidact approach to blend “Perreo” (Latinoamerican style similar to twerking) and biohacking, to create a new performative practice that generates renewable energy. This is a research on expectations and how the pre-internet sci-fi and pop-culture influenced a Millennial demographic worldwide. This sequel features Cruz wearing a DIY device that produces light generated by “twerking”
